The Thermopylae-Molos Pistachio Agricultural Cooperative of Greece, was created 3 years ago (July 27, 2011).
 
It consists of 70 growers-producers, whose fields are located in and around the surrounding agrarian region of Molos Municipal District and the historic area of Thermopylae, covering an area of about 180 hectares, which extends from the coastal zone to the southern highlands at an altitude of 400-500 meters.
In this area there are around 35,000 pistachio trees owned by our members, which produce about 120-160 tons of pistachio (average crop of the last two years)..
   
OUR PRODUCT
The Thermopylae-Molos Pistachio possesses all the necessary safety certificates (Agro 2.1, 2.2, GLOBAL-GAP, ISO: 22000) that make it a high quality product. We also have been certified for the “(P.D.O.) : Protected Designation of Origin” certification, for our pistachios from this year (2014).

 

Through Integrated Cultivation Management (ICM), with full traceability from harvest until the final stage of sale to the consumer, and analyses for pesticide residues & aflatoxins to all our members, we ensure the crystal purity of the product and the quality that we seek, so that the consumer can be absolutely sure about the pistachio he and his family enjoy.

The Nutritional analysis reports something unique in the world data bases in pistachios : The unsaturated fats have a percentage of 49,2%. That point gives on our product 1). a premium sweet taste, that makes our pistachio getting unique taste in the entire world and 2). Establish our product as the top useful on healthy nutrition.

The processing-packaging takes place in our certified, modern facilities:

     a). For retail sale in small packages of 35, 100, 200 and 500g and 1kg open, roasted and salted as well as kernels (fresh endocarp without the hard shell) in the same packages.

 

     b). For wholesaling raw pistachio open & closed in plastic bags of 25 kg which is divided into four quality categories:

1). Premium quality pistachio (AAA) open to 99%, with white pistachio shell.

2). Pistachio of very good quality (AA), open to 99%, with a difference from the first only in the color of the shell (slightly darker).

3). pistachio of very good quality (AA), open to 99%, which differs from the second only in the color of the shell (quite darker).

4). 98% closed with 2% open pistachio in packs of 25 kg.

 

 

The variety of pistachio trees cultivated by the members of our cooperative are the Koilarati (95%), with a small percentage (5%) of Nychati and Fountoukati.
